Jiggle,Jiggle
So last week I was volunteering with an after school program in Chinatown. Here in New England, the schools have what they call "April Break". Mind you, they also had a winter break followed by spring break, but I suppose since everything is so beautiful here in April they figure the kids should be able to get out and enjoy it all for one week in April as well (not sure that parents are in support of the decision but it is what it is) Point being, I was asked to help out with a field trip: progressive playground day! Exciting, huh? So as we were on one of the playgrounds rounding up 50 children who's mother tongue is mandarin (chinese) Lifting my arm and I call out to my small group "where's Mrs. Courtney's group?" One by one they come running to me. Little Anthony, the 2nd grader, with a smile on his face and squintted eyes he points to my raised arm (i am wearing a sleeveless shirt fyi)and tounching the underneath part of my upper arm (technically my tricep)says "jiggle, jiggle" Appauled I recall my childhood years when my cousins and I would point at my precious Nana's arm and say "chicken skin". I remember her saying "your day will come" And so Nana, my day has come! Thanks for teaching me to roll with the punches, to laugh at the days to come.
