Marathon Madness

These are two of the women I was talking about in my previous blog...the ones walking are the city in their cute little jeans. They also happen to be the 1st and 2nd place female winners of the marathon. As promised, I was cheering them on at mile 24 :)

This is THE WINNER, four years in a row!!!

And this is our dear friend, Joe who works with college students in New Hampshire. He ran the marathon, not because he is a marathon junkie, but to raise money for a local charity. This photo of him at mile 24 shows you just how joyful of a guy he is...smiling brightly as the rest are just wanting it all to be over. Joe is the kind of guy who walks into a room and things just get lighter. Sometimes you wonder if he is ever serious, but he loves life, loves Jesus and knows how to have fun! This Monday he was running in the marathon and Saturday (today) he was in a car accident, breaking his neck in a few places, but his life was spared and he has hope becuase his God is a Healer. It's moments like these that you push pause, rewind all your complaining and realize that every moment is a gift and maybe we should all be laughing a little bit more. We love you Joe!

Slim and Fit...The Good Ol' Days

I had to go to Copley Square to pick up some things today. Some of you might know that the finish line to the Boston Marathon is in the vicinity and that the marathon is this coming Monday = there was a chaos of people where I was needing to go today...taking photos at the finish line, eating healthy snacks, sporting their little jeans that fit on their perfect bodies (firm butts, slim thighs and NO hips) All in all, I was pretty disgusted by the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I am super exctied about the race and I will be there to cheer them on as their cute little bodies get very, very tired in about 36 hours; however, it did not soothe any of my hostility as the girl in the dressing room next to me loudly asked the saleslady to see if there was a size 2...the size 4 was toooo big! Sad, sad story.

McDonald's or Bust...My Ridiculous Craving

8:30 pm Thursday night. I have not eaten dinner, nor am I interested in doing so. We had to travel north of the city to run some errands and as we were on our way home my heart was set on a McDonald's chocolate dipped cone....yep, their deliciously cheap vanilla soft serve ice cream, lightly coated with the perfectly hardened dipped chocolate served on a sweet, crispy cone. You see, here in the city you have to be very strategic about locating a fast food joint (especially one with a drive thru)So we quickly pull in to the 2-Lane drive thru...yes, 2 lanes! Mouth watering, I am thinking, with a deluxe drive thru like this, no worries they will for sure serve the chocolate dipped cone. The person calls over the speaker for our order. "One chocolate dipped cone, please" says my husband who justs wants this order to go through so that my craving will be fixed! "we don't have that here" replied the man/woman/it from the little metal box. Strange, strange voice. We looked at eachother, first of all confused by who or what just answered us; secondly, I was in utter dismay and pity and third, my poor husband was trapped with me in the car with an unsatisfied craving (that's a very, very dangerous situation to be in my friend)Quietly and calmly he asked me if there was anything else I would like...he named it all, but for that moment only one thing would suffice...A CHOCOLATE DIPPED CONE FROM MCDONALDS!!! I immediately came home and googled the situation and here's just one item I found (proof that McDonald's do dip....some better than others. But apparently none in Massachusetts!) http://www.my3cents.com/showReview.cgi?id=14318

Some Days are Better than Others

"Never evaluate your life on a Monday" - quote by some wise person

we're still thawing out, but our hearts leap at even a hint of blue sky (this photo is from our spring retreat the first weekend of april)
