dr. update

wednesday the doctor said i was 3cm and effacing very well. nothing i can do but practice patience. tonight i will go to a slumber party & maybe all the estrogen in the room will motivate amelia to join the party...maybe it will terrify her:)

snow shoe saturdays

it has become a weekend tradition to take advantage of the almost 50 inches of snow we have received thus far this winter by going on snowshoe excursions on a weekly basis. two weeks ago chris and i went out together and this past week my friend jo joined me in the great outdoors for a two hour rendevous over the mountains and through the woods. i sure love where we live (just wish some people lived closer to us!)

boston shower of love

a week ago girls that i know from different times and places in boston came together to love on me and amelia by throwing us a shower. there were several who were unable to come due to sickness but i was grateful for their consideration of my health and their self control to stay at home with the bugs:) we had a good time together as the snow managed to hold off longer than forecasted (thankfully as i had friends drive in from conneticut and maine!) and other traveled by foot :) 'tis the city life! over all it was an afternoon filled with love and a time to celebrate the new life that is to come into this special community. below the group picture is me in my polka get-up for the event

2 and 80

doctor said on 1.14.09 that i am still at 2 cm but progressed to 80% effacement. head is down...way down and fluids are good. weighing in now around 6.5 lbs. so has some room to grow between now and then (maybe she'll be blessed with her daddy's skinny genes!)thanks for checking in on me. anticipation builds. off to work i go.

so i had my first "offical exam" at the doctor yesturday and she said in an extremely suprised tone of voice "wow! good for you, you are 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced...don't think you're going to make it to your due date little lady!" immediately i thought "good for me? really?" do you know how much i have left to do that i have been putting off due to the advice of others repeatedly saying "oh, girls are always late." "it's your first, it will be a while" so all my postponing until the first few weeks of February is shifting into high gear. then again, there can always be this hype that lingers...2 cm for two more weeks...you just never know.
